Situated on the grounds of Culloden Battlefield, Scotland, lies Leanach Cottage. During the Battle of Culloden, Leanach Cottage was situated in between the Government lines and it is likely the building would have been used as a field hospital for the government men during that famous battle. The cottage was likely constructed in the early 18th century. The last occupant of Leanach Cottage was Belle MacDonald. The National Trust for Scotland was gifted Leanach Cottage in 1944 by Hector Forbes.

The Kelpies in Scotland
The Kelpies are 30-metre-high horse-head sculptures, standing next to a new extension to the Forth and Clyde Canal, and near River Carron, in The Helix, a new parkland project built to connect 16 communities in the Falkirk Council Area, Scotland. The sculptures were designed by sculptor Andy Scott and were completed in October 2013. The Kelpies are a monument to horse powered heritage across Scotland. I took this picture of the two Kelpies right before the sunset in the early springtime. I love the soft golden light of the setting sun reflecting on these majestic mythological water horses.

Bible On Lectern In St. Andrew's Church - Clevedon, England
I thought this was a charming interior view inside St. Andrew's Church looking towards the back with the Bible opened on the brass lectern to Luke 11:37. St. Andrew's Church is where Lord Alfred Tennyson's best friend Arthur Hallam was buried. Tennyson wrote "In Memoriam A.H.H." about Arthur Hallam which is a very well know work of his. d St Andrew's is the oldest church in Clevedon and located along The Poet's Walk. Built in the Middle Ages on Saxon foundations it has been used as a place of Christian worship since Clevedon was a small fishing village and farming community.

The Altar Tomb Of John Kenn 1593
In the north wall of the chancel in St. Andrew's Church in Clevedon, England, under a plain pointed arch, is the altar tomb of John Ken of Clevedon who died 1593. Engraved on the top of the altar tomb reads "Here resteth the bodye of Joh Kenn, of Clyvedon, the sonne of Joh Kenn, of Kenn, esquire, who deceased the 12th day of Aprill, in the yeare of our Lord God MCCCCC. XC. III." His brother Christopher died the same year and was buried at Ken. Resting on top of his altar tomb is a prayer book and a hand made pottery golden brown pitcher.

Close Up Of St. Joseph Lighthouses
This is a view all the way out on the pier for a close up view of the two lighthouses in St. Joseph, Michigan. The St. Joe lighthouse that tourists and locals alike enjoy today was constructed at the end of a wooden pier extending out into lake Michigan in 1846. In 1907 and 1919 the city built the north and south piers that enabled boats easier access into the mouth of the St. Joe River. The lights on these piers are still operating today as one of the Great Lake’s last remaining pier range light systems. The catwalk, which was originally built for access to the lighthouse by the keepers during rough seas, is still accessed by walkers, runners and bikers today.

Huntly Castle in Scotland
Huntly Castle is a ruined castle in Huntly in Aberdeenshire, Scotland. It was the ancestral home of the chief of Clan Gordon, Earl of Huntly. A mound in the grounds of the castle is all that remains of an earlier 12th century motte. Originally named Strathbogie, the castle was granted to Sir Adam Gordon of Huntly in the 14th century. In 1496, the pretender to the English throne Perkin Warbeck was married to Lady Catherine Gordon the daughter of George Gordon, 2nd Earl of Huntly, witnessed by King James IV of Scotland at Edinburgh. ames IV came to Huntly in October 1501 and gave gifts of money to the stonemasons working on the castle. The heraldic ‘frontispiece’ so stunning it has no rival in the British Isles – also added by the 1st Marquis around 1602 In 1689, during the first Jacobite Rising, the castle was briefly the headquarters for Viscount Dundee and his Jacobite army, at the end of April, just after the start of the revolt.

Inverted Colors of Stained Glass Flowers
This is a beautiful old leaded stained glass window in Christ Church that is located in Clevedon, Somerset, England. I inverted the colors of the original image and it now looks like hand painted delft porcelain! Love how different it turned out! The church was built between 1838 and 1839 by Richard Charles Hussey and Thomas Rickman and revised by George Phillips Manners and John Elkington Gill in the 1850s. It is a Grade II listed building. George Weare Braikenridge donated medieval and Renaissance Continental stained glass from his own personal collection to the church.

Steep Holm Island
This is a view of Steep Holm Island located in the Bristol Channel is part of North Somerset, England. I took this picture while standing on a hilltop from the Poet's Walk in Clevedon. The island is formed of Carboniferous Limestone. According to legend, first recorded by John Leland in the 16th century, Saint Gildas, the author of De Excidio et Conquestu Britanniae (Latin for "On the Ruin and Conquest of Britain"), lived on Steep Holm during the 6th century. He arrived on Steep Holm after visiting his friend Saint Cadoc, who lived on Flat Holm (neighboring island) as a hermit.

It was restored in 2006 by the Clevedon Civic Society, Yancec, North Somerset Council, Clevedon Town Council, John Gent and Michael Hale. Angel Praying Statue
This is a charming old statue of a kneeling Guardian Angel on a grave in the St. Andrew's Church Cemetery in Clevedon, Somerset, England. This cemetery is up on a hilltop along the Bristol Channel and the cemetery is hit with lots of water and high winds causing the headstones and statues to have lots of wear and tear on them. It is situated on the Poet's Walk, as well, which generates lots of visitors. I wonder if this sweet Angel is watching over someone's dear child from the last century?

Old Celtic Cross Headstone
Many of the headstones have shifted and tilted over the years in this cemetery (St. Andrew's Churche, Clevedon, Somerset, England) with the severe weather it receives being on this cliftop with high winds and water the hits it from the Bristol Channel. This is a cross for Thomas and Fanny Cowan who were born in 1839 and 1840. The cross says "Death is swallowed up in victory."

Jesu Mercy Tombstone Cross
Saw this lovely old turn of the century cross headstone in St. Andrew's Cemetery. This church and cemetery is located on the hillside of the Poet's Walk and along the Bristol Chanel. It is also the burial place of Arthur Hallam, subject of the poem In Memoriam A.H.H. by his friend Alfred, Lord Tennyson.

The Blue Georgian Door
I loved this large blue Georgian style door that I saw in the lovely seaside town of Clevedon, Somerset, England. The arched stonework above the massive blue door and the carving flanking it is quite stunning.

The Red Door
I love this red Georgian style door that I saw in Clevedon, Somerset, England. Love how the vine is growing up the wall flanking the door's entrance. This door is just calling us to come knock on it and enter to see what treasures lie within those doors!

Vintage Sunbeam Automobile
I loved the look of this vintage Sunbeam automobile! This picture was taken in front of the Walton Park Hotel in Clevedon, Somerset, England. Sunbeam Motor Car Company Limited was a British motor car manufacturer with its works at Moorfields in Blakenhall, a suburb of Wolverhampton in the county of Staffordshire —now West Midlands. Its Sunbeam name had been registered by John Marston in 1888 for his bicycle manufacturing business and the Sunbeam motor car manufacture began in 1901.
